Coasters for Casting
Hollow coasters perfect for filling with epoxy!
Do you have little shells, beads, rocks or glass that you aren’t sure what to do with?
Putting them in this coaster and then covering with epoxy makes for a fun craft and a great gift or keepsake! It is a fun project for kids or adults and makes a great item that can be used every day!
The seashell T in the pictures is an example of what you can do, but the possibilities are up to you.
The coasters come in a 4 pack and are 4 inches wide on the outside. The inside pocket is 0.2 inches deep. This is just a little more than four quarters stacked on top of each other. Anything you put in the coaster has to be shorter than 4 quarters stacked up if you want the top surface to be smooth.
The wall of the letter is 0.1 inches tall so it will be covered by epoxy. The width of the letters varies depending on the geometry of the letter.
It takes just about 2 ounces of epoxy to fill the coaster if you don’t put anything in it. This 8 ounce kit on Amazon will do 4 coasters. It is an affiliate link and I get a commission if you use it to buy the epoxy. You don’t pay any extra for using the link: https://amzn.to/2YXsv7O
The wood is unfinished – if you use colored epoxy you could seal the wood first to prevent the color from bleeding into the wood if you want. You can also paint or stain the outside to your liking.
Please be sure to tell me what letters you want in your order notes. If you forget I will send you a random 4 letter word. No, just kidding 🙂 I will reach out for details if needed.
If you want anything different or special feel free to reach out and I will see what I can do.
If you have any questions please let me know!
